Amazon suspended your seller account? Answer the reason they gave.

Amazon’s Business Solutions Agreement says when it can suspend a seller, what the notice must contain, and how long it can hold your money. Its help pages describe the appeal. Sellers in the EU also have P2B Regulation rights and a mediation scheme. This page lists them with the source next to each point. It is general information, not legal advice.

Everyone: the notice, the appeal, the money

  • Read the notice for the reason. Amazon says it will “promptly notify you” of a suspension or termination, “indicating the reason and any options to appeal”, unless it believes that would hinder an investigation of deceptive, fraudulent or illegal activity or help you get around its safeguards (US Business Solutions Agreement, §3).
  • Appeal from Account Health. In Seller Central go to Account Health, select Reactivate your account, follow the instructions (a questionnaire, an acknowledgment, a quiz or documents, depending on the case) and select Submit. If Amazon asks for more, use View Appeal. Amazon’s help page says: “Please expect a reply to your appeal within two days” (Appeal an account deactivation).
  • Withheld payments. The US agreement lets Amazon withhold payments “for as long as we determine any related risks to Amazon or third parties persist”. Where it permanently withholds funds for deceptive, fraudulent or illegal activity, it says it “will offer you an avenue to appeal our fund withholding decision” (§2).
  • Keep every notice, appeal and reply in the evidence log, and add the dates to the deadline calculator.

When the contract allows a suspension

“We may terminate your account or this Agreement for convenience with 30 days’ advance notice. We may suspend or terminate your account or this Agreement immediately if we determine that (a) you have materially breached the Agreement and failed to cure within 7 days of a cure notice …”

Amazon Services Business Solutions Agreement (US), §3, as shown on 27 Oct 2026.

The other listed grounds are deceptive, fraudulent or illegal use; harm (or a risk of harm flagged by Amazon’s controls) to other sellers, customers or Amazon’s legitimate interests; an Account Health Rating below Amazon’s published deactivation threshold; and, in the US version, a legal requirement. If your notice cites a breach, check whether you had a cure notice and 7 days to fix it.

EU: P2B rights and CEDR mediation

The European BSA (“Last updated: June 30, 2025”) repeats the 30-day convenience notice, the 7-day cure and the listed grounds. It adds that notice comes “via email or similar means sent to you individually, and on Seller Central”, and that “any suspension will last until you have provided satisfactory evidence that you have cured its cause” (EU BSA). It is governed by Luxembourg law, with the courts of the district of Luxembourg City (non-exclusively).

  • Reasons on a durable medium. If you are an EU-established business selling to EU consumers, the P2B Regulation says a restriction or suspension needs a statement of reasons, on a durable medium, before or when it takes effect. Ending the whole service needs reasons at least 30 days before, with exceptions such as a legal obligation or repeated infringement (Regulation (EU) 2019/1150, Arts. 1(2) and 4).
  • Free internal complaint. Platforms must offer a free, easily accessible complaint system that handles complaints within a reasonable time and gives you an individual outcome (Art. 11). If a suspension is revoked, you should be reinstated without undue delay (Art. 4(3)).
  • Mediation (Art. 12). Amazon’s scheme is run by CEDR. Under the July 2025 rules you must have exhausted Amazon’s complaints process and received an access code from Amazon confirming it consents, and your application must reach CEDR within 30 calendar days of getting the code. The case fee is EUR 538 (UK: GBP 490 plus VAT), split equally; your share is refunded within 30 calendar days if the mediator makes a recommendation. The recommendation is non-binding (CEDR scheme rules).

UK: the same scheme, in pounds

CEDR’s rules set a separate case fee of GBP 490 plus UK VAT (if applicable) when the seller’s registered address is in the United Kingdom, and the same eligibility steps: Amazon’s complaints process first, then an access code, then 30 calendar days to apply (CEDR scheme rules). A UK GDPR access request lets you ask what data the decision used.

United States: arbitration, and small claims only in King County

  • Letter first. Before starting arbitration you must send a letter describing your claim to Amazon’s registered agent: CSC, 300 Deschutes Way SW, Suite 208 MC-CSC1, Tumwater, WA 98501 (US BSA, §20).
  • Arbitration. The AAA runs it under its commercial rules; expedited procedures apply to claims seeking only money under $50,000. There is a class-action waiver.
  • Small claims. Either side may choose “a small claims court that is a Governing Court if your claims qualify”. The Governing Courts are the state or federal courts in King County, Washington, under Washington law, so a small-claims case elsewhere is not covered by that exception.

The letter kit helps you write a dated, factual notice letter you can adapt.
